MUSEUM FEATURE IN MELBOURNE LEADER NEWSPAPERS
9th March 2010

  • The Maribyrnong Leader
  • The Brimbank Leader
  • The Hobsons Bay Leader
  • The Wyndham Leader
  • This feature was written by Stella Tzobanakis of Leader Newspapers. Stella contacted the Museum and suggested the feature to Museum Director Michael Isaachsen, who agreed to be interviewed. Leader photographer David Smith attended a few days later and took the magnificent picture.

The story is very readable and describes the Museum well despite a number of minor inaccurate details including the wrong web address. Several people have engaged with the Museum as a result of this article.

The article and main photo have been reformatted for simplicity and smaller file size for emailing and this web page. No changes have been made other than the web address and a spelling error.

    Letter for Letter

A life-long passion for printing led to the creation of one of Melbourne's least known, most hands-on museums, writes Viviane Stappmanns.

''The history of society is, to a large degree, the history of the craft of printing.'' Laurie Harding may be retired, but the speed at which he picks up the leaden letters to compose this sentence tells a story of his decades of experience.

Ironically, Harding himself is living proof of what he's spelling out . . .
