DESKTOP PUBLISHING ON THE P.C. - DATING FROM ABOUT 1984

Digital Equipment Corporation provided a very up-to-date package, suitable for the pre-windows PC. It was among the first to provide GUI and WYSIWYG for the non-professional user. It used fonts from Bitstream.

The DTP system was known as Publisher, and it ran on the `GEM Desktop', a novel system of mouse pointing and icons.
