Printing jobs which didn't get put away

By rights, these formes should have been `dissed' (types put away) or melted down for re-use, years ago. Luckily, printers often kept their work `standing' for possible re-use. Or they just didn't get around to tidying up.

So we are fortunate to see, and still to be able to take impressions from, these `refugees from fate'.

In many cases, the formes are reminders of the work of the individual tradesmen whose handiwork has outlived them.

As with much of our collection, very little work has been done on these items. There would be many hundred examples.
